Windows XP still available after Windows 7 release
Who would have thought all those years ago that Windows XP would have ever been as popular as it is now, not only have Microsoft offered extended support for the OS, we have now learned that the operating system will still be available on netbooks even when Windows 7 is released.
If you are an OEM and are using Windows XP on a netbook, then you will have the ability to install Windows XP of one year, once Windows 7 has been released to the consumer. This is what Mike Nash, corporate vice president of the Windows product management group at Microsoft told PC World.
This is great news for those who wish to still use Windows XP, Microsoft are trying to make the transition period after the release of Windows 7 as smooth as possible. There are users out there who are still trying to avoid upgrading to Vista, and those same users might be a bit wary of Windows 7. This extra time will allow them to form their own opinion of Windows 7.
