Docx to Doc

Soup-ups may sometimes bring inconveniences. As in the case of Microsoft’s Office 2007 and its .docx files. Word files created with this version of Microsoft’s productivity suite are saved in the .docx extension by default.

The problem is that not all word processing software can open the files. Here are ways to convert documents in the new file format to .doc files:

Convert Online
Websites like www.zamzar.com let you do the conversions over the web. From the hard drive, select the file which you want to converted, then upload it to the website and supply an e-mail address.

Once the file is converted, you will receive an e-mail with a link to the page where you can download your file. Of course, there are limitations. For example, you can convert files of only up to 100MB.

Download Microsoft compatibility pack
If you have an older version of MS Office, download and install Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System from office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/ha100444731033.aspx. The one-time installtion takes care of all Word documents, which will now be saved in the new format.
