SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash memory card

With more people using semi-pro or professional digital SLR cameras, and with picture file sizes getting larger by the day, the demand for bigger-capacity storage cards has grown.

SanDisk’s latest, Extreme Pro, packs a whopping 64GB of storage, and can also read and write data at speeds of up to 90 MBps.

Although the memory card is meant for professional photographers who often shoot in RAW and JPEG formats, and hence need ample storage for their pictures, there is a growing band of “professional-consumer” photographers who are also looking for more storage working at higher speeds.

The Extreme Pro is not a cheap memory card, but it offers an amazing data-transfer speed that is well-suited for recording the most elusive quick shots.

However, in order to take full advantage of the high transfer speed, the camera must be UDMA-6 compliant, that is, the card-and-camera interface must be UDMA-6.

Canon’s latest, the EOS 7D, is one such camera. This card also works under extreme conditions (from -25 deg C to 85 deg C).

So, if you are going to Harbin or the Sahara desert, the Extreme Pro will function where other storage media would falter.
