This lens has a white body – the signature colour of Canon’s performance L-series lenses. Take a glance at the cameras at any sporting event and you are sure to sport these distinctive white lenses.

They are an update on an earlier popular lens of the same zoom range. Ramp-ups include faster and quieter antofocusing and more powerful image stabilisation to reduce jerky footage – the effect of unsteady hands.

The minimum focusing distance has been cut to 1.2m from 1.4m so you can now go closer to your subject. White though it may be, this lens is built for punishment: Its magnesium alloy body is fully waterproof.
